Intensive Therapy for Colorado Women

Weekly therapy isn’t always the right answer.

Maybe you’ve tried it and found that every time you start to make some progress, your 50 minutes are up, and the next session feels like starting all over. Perhaps you’ve never even tried it because your busy schedule simply doesn’t afford you the flexibility.

Whether you’re an adult ready to finally break unhelpful patterns in your life, a stressed-out parent or professional craving balance and connection, or an entrepreneur battling imposter syndrome and self-doubt…please know change is possible. With intensives, it can happen in a way that works for you and your already busy schedule.

Luckily, various mental health treatments, such as intensive therapy, can help. Whether you deal with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, intensive therapy can help. Each session is designed to teach strategies to decrease symptoms of anxiety or some other mental health issue.

Outpatient therapy allows them to live at home and continue their daily routine as they still receive the treatment. Intensive therapy can provide rapid and effective treatment for someone with severe symptoms. If you need time away from school or work for recovery, inpatient treatment can help.

To get the most out of intensive therapy, clients do the following: Trust your therapist and have a positive outlook on treatment, knowing that you both are taking steps to better yourself. It’s okay if you need a boost after intensive treatment to ensure you still get on the right track.

Please recognize that trusting the treatment methods and those teaching you will help you reduce symptoms and manage issues more effectively. According to a 2012 study by Ritschel, Cheavens, and Nelson at the Emory University School of Medicine, anxiety and depression scores decreased significantly after intensive therapy.

You may benefit from intensive therapy if you are dealing with mental health issues.

Helping adults put the past to rest and get back to feeling like themselves…fast!

Intensives are concentrated therapy sessions designed to deliver accelerated results.

Intensives are investments in your overall well-being—and, believe it or not, often come out less expensive than traditional therapy. In a single 3-hour intensive, you can accomplish what will likely take months of weekly therapy. This adds up quickly at $150 or $200/session.

When choosing an intensive, you’re not just saving money—you’re also saving time. This model focuses on focused, concentrated time for deep work that will result in change in your day-to-day life.

Individual sessions are 3-5 hours and may be offered in 1, 2, 3, or 4-day formats. Sessions may be scheduled consecutively or on separate weeks.

That said, if you are looking for an Intensive and hoping to use insurance benefits (in-network or out-of-network), you can often still get a portion of the Intensive covered, especially if it is scheduled over several days.

Finally, therapy Intensives may end up being more cost-effective than weekly therapy for reasons already listed above (decreasing travel costs, childcare costs, etc.), as well as saving other costs on all the other complementary and alternative treatment options you’ve been trying in your search for healing and growth.

Hi! I'm Heather Madigan, (she/her) a licensed clinical social worker. Whether you’re searching for purpose, identifying personal values and goals, or if the demands of modern-day life have left you feeling anxious and unproductive, I know there is a way forward. I am committed to creating a space to explore the impact of past wounds and trauma, identity, values, and life transitions, and develop (and maintain) new skills that center your personal growth in the work.

Outside the office, I am walking behind my two rescue dogs, Kota and Olive. I love to get lost in mystery and crime novels, take on too many DIY projects that are rarely completed, and camp during warm weather.

I offer intensives for the following issues:

  • folks experiencing life transitions or new stages & phases of life

  • EMDR Therapy Intensives

  • ADHD skill building

  • Anxiety & Depression

  • Internal Family Systems Mapping and Exploration

We know your circumstances are unique, so I believe your treatment should be, too. We customize each intensive package according to each client’s unique situation, needs, and goals.

Intensives are for you if…

  • you’re too busy for weekly therapy but want to heal + feel better ASAP

  • you prefer to have longer sessions where you can hyperfocus + go deep

  • you have a big life event coming up (marriage, family reunion, big move, new job, psychedelic/plant medicine ceremony) and need to do some emotional processing before or after

  • Therapy intensives help clients go deeper and get results faster. Rather than stopping and starting in 1-hour blocks every week, intensives allow you to set aside a larger chunk of time to do the deep work necessary to achieve real, long-lasting change. This is a cutting-edge, research-backed approach to therapy. Our work together will be focused, in-depth, and personalized to you & your goals.

  • Intensives encompass a number of different sessions and avenues for support. We’ll customize each of the following based on your needs:

    • Consult: We’ll start with a 20-minute consultation call to ensure this model is the right fit for you, and that I’m the right counselor to support you. During this time, we’ll also determine the length and number of intensive sessions you are likely to need. This can always be adjusted later, if needed.

    • Pre-Intake: You’ll complete a detailed intake packet sharing about your background, current challenges, and goals.

    • Intake Session: We’ll meet for a 90-minute intake session to review additional information and create a detailed plan, including goals and outcome measures to ensure we can accurately track your progress.

    • Plan: I’ll craft a customized plan combining both talk therapy, E,MDR, and Internal Family Systems to help you achieve deep healing.

    • Intensive Session(s): We’ll meet for the selected number of sessions. They can occur in-person in my office in Fort Collins, Colorado or online for people who are in Colorado or Indiana (Ann only).

    • (Optional) Post-Intensive Session: We can meet for an optional 50-minute post-intensive session to measure your progress, debrief, and ensure you feel well-equipped to integrate your new insights into daily life.

  • - A detailed intake questionnaire

    • An interactive intensive treatment workbook (much like a personal workbook to collect your thoughts before, during, and after)

    • A customized plan incorporating your goals and desired outcomes

    • Specialized support every step of the way

Ready For A Change? Here's a Testimonial

A recent therapy-intensive client reported, "I've actually been feeling really good. I’m hesitant to fully claim it, but I really feel like something may have shifted, like a percentage. I really liked the approach we took and would like to look at continuing with longer sessions."
